The Concept Lightbride is a submission to the design contest LIO 2015 hosted by Osram. It won second place. The slogan of the competition was ‘Light connects. In the public space’.
The Lightbridge connects people at two or more physically separated locations – these may include locations in different city districts, cities, countries or continents – through light. An upright surface, equipped with LEDs and proximity sensors, is available at the connected locations. By interacting with one of the reactive LED-walls, the touches and silhouette of the individuals in motion are shown on both or all surfaces. This enables communication through gestures, dancing – or even pantomime! Overlapping silhouettes from different ends of the Lightbridge are highlighted visually to encourage communication between people.
